Membership Report

Greetings fellow Sons,

We once again start on the membership journey for 2018-2019. At this time all cards should be distributed, and memberships are beginning to flow into Detachment. Congratulations for the hard work put in on last year's membership. We stand at 99% of goal for 2017-2018 about 160 members short, you can still send in 2018 renewals along with your 2019. Additionally, Maryland achieved a retention rate over 90% last year and was awarded a plaque at the National Convention. Great job everyone!

This year, to build on last year's achievements, we need to make an extra effort. We need to dig deeper to gather these membership renewals and recruit new members to the organization. Therefore, I am using; Mining for Membership as our membership theme this year.

Jim Alexander, CEO of the DMD Mining Company has directed the Foreman (District Commanders) of the seven "Mines" to get the miners (Squadrons) to work digging out all the precious ore (members) they can. He has set a quota for each mine to extract 100% of goal by the cutoff date in May. As CMO (Chief of Mining Operations) I, along with our ramrod Karl "Bulldog" Kibler, stand ready to assist all mining operations in any way possible, just call and we will come running. I think we can exceed 16,000 members for 2018-2019, and I believe that we are up to the challenge!

I have placed a challenge out to the District Commanders. I will make a $100 donation to either the District Commanders Project or to a Children and Youth Project of their choice, to the first District that reaches 100% membership by the May 24, 2019 Cut-Off.

So, put on your hardhats, get you picks, shovels and dynamite (for that stubborn ore) ready, and let's go "Mining for Members!"

Yours in Service,
Bob Manzo
